There's a reality at book fairs that's rarely discussed... And yet, it deserves to be.
At some fairs - and even at major festivals - self-published authors are still sidelined. Less visible placement. Less recognition. Less space.
And inevitably... that raises questions.
Is a book less valuable because it's self-published? Does an independent author deserve their place less?
From my (still modest) experience, but also through numerous testimonials from other authors, this observation comes up frequently.
But fortunately, there's also a positive side.
Thanks to the associations that fight to give us a real place. Like APAC or SEALB, which actively support independent authors at fairs. Because yes, diversity in the book world is essential.
And then, there's you. Thank you to all of you who stop at our stands, read us, support us, and help our stories travel.
