I often mention this when I have the opportunity to meet readers: I write to music. And so, each book has its dedicated playlist. Each chapter even has its own music, to listen to on Spotify. Whether for the rhythm, the atmosphere, or the lyrics, there's always a reason behind each choice.
In "Ces nœuds qui nous relient" (These Knots That Connect Us), several Indian songs made their way into the playlist, and it's time to explain why ✨
🎧 Maara & Paru – Maara (2021)
This film contains a lot of acoustic songs that immediately resonated with me. This one was perfect for setting the mood of the prologue and introducing the legend of the red thread of destiny.
🎧 Vennilave Vennilave – Minsara Kanavu (1997)
I grew up with this song. For me, it's a declaration: it calls to go beyond the stars. "Surya" means Sun and "Neela" means Moon.
And in the story, between these two siblings, there's this strong symbolism between their names and their roles... do you see?
🎧 Search of Soul – Maara
It was impossible not to start and end with the same film.
It's also a personal nod: the last film I watched with my mom.
An intimate connection, between Sri Lankan roots, Indian culture, and writing.
What about you, are there any songs that remind you of books, chapters, or even entire scenes?
