Writing update: Romance #3
The first draft of my third romance novel is complete, but between finishing the writing and sending it to my beta readers, I still had a bit of work to do.
Each reread allows me to hunt down typos, delete repetitions, check the consistency of the story, enrich certain passages, lighten others... and sometimes even add an entire chapter.
I had set myself a rule: no more than five rereads before sending it to my ambassadors and first readers, who will give me their feedback this summer. For now, I'm on the third reread. And that's already a small victory when I think back to my first romances, which were reread between fifteen and thirty times before beta reading.
In terms of tools, before sending it to my professional proofreader, I mainly use Synonymo, Scribens, and Antidote to catch as many errors as possible and improve my manuscript.
For authors passing by: how many rereads do you do before entrusting your text to beta readers or a proofreader?
