“What was the spark that made you want to write each of your romances?”: this is a question I’m often asked at book fairs.
The truth is, a novel doesn't always start with a complete plot, or with a predefined character sheet. Often, it all begins with a scene, an emotion, or a moment that refuses to leave my mind.
Here's a glimpse behind the scenes of the Soulmate™ collection:
Book 1 - “What if it was right in front of me”
It all started with the first chapter: the accident. Their very first meeting. The adrenaline, the fear, the exploding emotions that make every sensation more intense. This scene gave birth to their entire story.
Book 2 - “The ties that bind us”
If there's one chapter for which I eagerly await your feedback, it's chapter 7. A real turning point in this enemies-to-lovers romance. It was also the very first scene I wrote, even before knowing the rest of the novel. Everything then naturally built up around it.
Book 3 - Title to be revealed soon...
This time, it all started with one of the last chapters of the book. A scene imagined as part of an Instagram short story contest. These 1,500 words laid the foundations for a very peculiar universe... and ultimately gave birth to a novel almost ten times longer. A scene where the connection between my characters shifts as much as their emotions.
But for now, I'm still keeping a few secrets. 🤫
Among these three novels, which “spark” intrigues you the most? The accident in my first romance, chapter 7 of Effie and Surya, or the scene at the origin of the next upcoming novel?
"What was the trigger that made you want to write each of your romances?" This is a question I often get asked at book fairs.
